March Give Away

in Contests

Because it is March -

Because it is my birthday in a few days -

And because I love getting free things and winning contests-

I’m going to be giving away a $20 gift card to Amazon.com

And because I love Amazon!

Here is how it goes:

I have been reading over the winners of the 2010 Bloggie Awards and I realize there are so many awesome blogs out there and I don’t know any of them.  You should go check some of them out!

So, in the comments section, write down the web address of your favorite blog and why.  I’ll probably add all of them to my google reader!

Be sure and put your email in space provided.  It won’t be published, but I need it to send you the gift certificate to Amazon.

Contest Ends: On my birthday! March 3, 2010 at 3:33 pm MST. (I like 3′s)  I’ll be at the dentist during that time (yeah, on my birthday, dentist visit #7 since January) so, winners will be announced later that night.

(only one entry per person, thanks!)

(oh, and comment moderation is on, so your comment won’t appear immediately, but don’t worry, it will appear.  I have to do that because of the 900 spam comments I’ve gotten in the last month.)

Good Luck!

If I won this – I might buy some of these things:

Digital Landscape Photography: In the Footsteps of Ansel Adams and the Masters by Michael Fry

I’m really loving photography and I really love shooting landscapes.

Winter Morning Walks : 100 Postcards to Jim Harrison  by Ted Kooser

Ted Kooser is a former poet laureate of the United States.  I read this particular volume of poetry in college and just haven’t ever added it to my collection.  Every morning he would take a walk, then write a poem about what he saw that day to Jim Harrison on a postcard and mail it to him.  Genius!

True Blood Season 2 DVD

I love this series.  I read all the Sookie Stackhouse books this last summer.  The show is definitely for adults.

New Moon DVD

Like I even have to tell you why.

I try to limit myself to regularly reading blogs of people I know, but when it comes to just amazing blogs I have found this one. Jasmine Star is also up for one of the bloggie awards in photography. Not only am I completetly jealous of her photography skills and that she gets to do that for a living, but I also love her writing style. She seems to make each new client feel special and exciting and doesn’t mind sharing personal stories and insights. Check her out! http://www.jasminestarblog.com/

Shame on you for making me waste all of this time looking at these blogs. It really makes me WANT to blog. One Day!! One Day!! Anyway, I think one of my favorites was the Smitten Kitten. I liked it for two reasons. First of all for obvious reasons – I LOVE FOOD. But second of all, I love looking at her photography techniques. I really liked the simple layout too. Bakerella was also a favorite of mine for the exact same reasons. I’m pathetic, I know. But thanks for getting me to check out more of the blogging world. It was fun. Now I must get back to doing something productive.

this is one of my favorite blogs and websites. it is YouTube for thinkers. it’s called Big Think and it creates a perfect democracy. anyone can start a conversation about anything. and then anyone can comment. really is amazing. and i hope… the future of our democracy in america and the world.

boingboing.net is my favorite. It is a growing collection of interesting things found all over the internet. Most of the entries aren’t earth-shattering, but many are interesting enough to make me say, “Huh. That’s cool.”

I really just love reading all my friends’ blogs. I’ve been pretty busy lately, so I haven’t even been doing that much. . . But, I guess you could say my favorite non-friend blog is http://foodstoragemadeeasy.net/. Food Storage and Emergency Preparedness has been on the mind a lot lately, so this is a great site with a lot of tips! :)

I’m not a huge blog reader, but I will browse when I’m looking for inspiration (I’m a photographer) or if I need a distraction.

My old boss told me about Stephanie Nielson’s blog after her plane crash. She is amazing and so inspiring! This is a blog that is uplifting, inspiring, and holds my attention!

Um, I don’t want to admit it, but I’m a ‘blogstalker’ and can’t list some of my favorite blogs. :)

Actually, I’ve never really looked up blogs besides those of friends, except for one:

cakewrecks.blogspot.com

HILARIOUS! I kind of wish I someday get a ‘cake wreck’ just for kicks.

I am not a big blogger. I don’t actually read any or even do one but I did come across this one in the last month and it is great. It is a mother’s blog and her kid accidentally drowned and he fully recovered. She has a gift for writing and expressing things. The site is http://stakerzxposed.blogspot.com/ If you want to read a true miracle in the making you should read this blog.

Looks like I’m just in time. Hope the dentist visit is going alright. And I hope you’re having an awesome birthday (other than the dentist).
As for a blog, I don’t really have one to offer. I read blogs of friends and families and try to avoid all others because they are time suckers. Majorly. But in an effort to win the card, I’ll send along one of those. So, one I think you might enjoy because of the English/writer + young adult connections (and because it is often pretty hilarious) is emilywingsmith.com Do you remember my freshman roommate Emily? That’s her blog. Another favorite (also freshman connection, oddly enough), because it uplifts me is ourpursuits.blogspot.com
