So, I was incredibly lucky and got to go and watch New Moon last night as part of a test showing. A friend of mine works at a movie theater – oh yeah, I got connections.
Anyways . . . here is what I thought.
I liked it and it was well done, but I liked Twilight better, maybe, I don’t know. I think part of this is because I really didn’t like New Moon as a book. I am definitely Team Edward and so having him out of the picture for so long is, well, sad. Another reason why I didn’t like this book is that there isn’t a whole lot of action and a whole lot of Bella being depressed, despondent, and pathetic. All I want to do is slap her. But, the way they filmed New Moon was awesome!
For those of you who are die-hard fans and who don’t think they should change the book at all, well, I hate to say this, but you might not like the movie. The director did change a lot of little things in order to make the film more action packed and keep the momentum moving along. I liked the changes.
Also, I must say this, I went to this movie with two guys who have never read the books. So they asked lots of questions and held side conversations throughout the entire film. So, I didn’t get that “feeling” while watching the film. I’m going again on Monday, so I’ll really know by then.
You might be wondering why I liked Twilight better. Well, I think the main reason is that I miss the cool, indie film type direction and editing of the first director. However, the special effects are a-mazing! Seriously – really good. I couldn’t wait for the scenes with the non-humans just so I could see how they would look.

I actually agree with you. I liked Twighlight better but I think it was because I didn’t have a distractive audience watching it with me, lol! You could totally tell most people (especially the ladies behind us) in the theater hadn’t read the books. They were totally freaking out when she was getting close to Jacob! We were laughing more at them than at the movie! It was good, but I might wait to see the next movie after all the die-hards!
