Tonight I went to meet and have Ree Drummond sign my (well, her) cookbook. If you don’t know who she is, let me tell you.
Ree writes a blog. A blog I read every single day. She lives in Oklahoma, cooks, does photography, homeschool’s her kids, and helps her husband run a cattle ranch. She is funny and entertaining and at times the only good part of my day at work. I like to read her blog at work because there are days when I get tired of the swearing, drug talk, gang talk, and the general upsetting things my kids do or the horrible lives they have led or the crappy families they have. When I have days like that, I go to her blog and read about kids and cows and dogs and cowboys. It is a reminder of simpler times and good solid families. It gives me hope and makes me smile.
Well, tonight when we got to the bookstore there were hundreds of people. We wouldn’t have been able to see her. They were giving out tickets for the line, but we didn’t get one. It was crazy. I was just disappointed that I couldn’t meet and thank this woman.
If you would like to read her blog, here is it: www.thepioneerwoman.com

I’m so sorry you didn’t get in to see Ree. she is a crack up. I like to read her site as I can relate to my 4 rugrats, living in the middle of nowhere….but in California, not Oklahoma. And being married to a cowboy….. but homeschooling? Ummmmmmm no thanks…. my kids might end up like the cows on our property…….wandering aimlessly through life waiting to eat or be eaten……
Hope she comes back and you get to see her then!!
Thanks for feeling sad for me! I read on the comments section of Ree’s blog today that one woman waited for 2.5 hours and was told by the bookstore to leave. It just wasn’t organized very well and was in a teeny-tiny bookstore. Next time I will be more prepared to get there hours and hours early.
